Using a Library A student may use a library in three ways. In this lecture we shall examine these activities in order to help the student to use his library (1) Ⅰ.Borrowing books In order to borrow books effectively, one can look into (2) , which features: A.cards placed in (3) under the name of the author; B.cards always giving other important information, the book’s call number and (4) The call number normally consists of two parts: A. (5) , on the top line near the top left-hand corner, telling you in (6) the book lies; B. (7) , on the next line, giving the number relevant to that specific author and that particular book. Ⅱ. (8) materials Such books as dictionaries, bibliographies or encyclopedias, books which are valuable or difficult to replace, and (9) are kept in the reference section. The student is likely to make use of them when he is doing research. Ⅲ. (10) On many occasions, the student goes to the library because it provides a good study environment and he can easily meet and talk to his fellow students.
